SALA SÃO PAULO: the best concert hall in Latin America

SURPRISE YOURSELF WITH THE BEST CONCERT HALL IN LATIN AMERICA: Do not miss the chance to visit the Sala São Paulo.

Sala São Paulo, home of the Symphonic Orchestra of São Paulo (Osesp), is a must in the city’s musical agenda. Considered the best concert hall in Latin America, visitors are enchanted by its architectural beauty and acoustic quality designed by the architect Nelson Dupré, as well as by the great artists that have been presented there. Renovated in 1999, it is worth getting to know the history behind this beautiful building and of course enjoy and be moved by the excellent classical music. Reserve a Sunday at 11:00 a.m. to assist a concert by Osesp and partner orchestras. The entrance is free and tickets are available at the box office located on the 1st underground floor from the Monday prior to the date of the event. Each person can get up to four tickets (a fee of R$2 is charged for extra tickets). On the day of the concert, the box office distributes the remaining tickets starting at 10:00 a.m., limiting it to one ticket per person.

Tickets to Osesp’s seasonal concerts sell out quickly, but there are a few ways to guarantee a seat. You can subscribe to a package of presentations and get all of the tickets before the season starts. Sales for 2016 season have ended, but you can register on their website and subscribe for the next season – which opens in the last trimester of the year. Prices range from R$186 to R$1.662,50.

If you prefer, you can also create a personalized list of Osesp concerts that you wish to attend. At the “Crie Sua Série” program, it is possible to pick at least three concerts. However, before buying a package, remember to verify the theater section. Platéia central (main floor) and balcão mezanino (mezzanine balcony) are areas with good views. Finally, arrive a few minutes earlier to enjoy an espresso and an éclair at Dulca, a traditional café inside Sala São Paulo.

The little ones can also enjoy an exclusive and playful musical program! Since 2002, TUCCA (Children and Adolescents Cancer Association) develops the project “Maestro's Apprentice”. It is a series of concerts for children that uses theater, opera and ballet resources to engage infants in classical music. Performances happen every Saturday, at 11:00 a.m., in Sala São Paulo.

Tickets can be purchased online at TUCCA’s headquarters, or you can subscribe for the entire season and get tickets for the year (there are about eight concerts per year). Prices go up to R$80 per ticket and all the proceeds go back to the Association, which provides free treatment for kids with cancer. The concerts are suitable for all ages.

For other concerts, tickets can be purchased at Sala São Paulo’s box office (up to 6 tickets). From Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or until the beginning of the concert. When there is a presentation on a Saturday, it opens from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or until the beginning of the concert; Sundays and Holidays, it opens 2 hours prior to the event.

Parking: entrance from Rua Mauá, 51 It is private and provides direct access to the concert hall. Opens from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. or until the end of the event. Prices go up to R$25 If you go by car, make sure you use Waze because the downtown area is usually crowded on weekends. We highly recommend parking at the Sala São Paulo for safety reasons.
